Four Years of Flag Football

Written by: Reese Bailey and Ana Miller

It is officially year 4 of flag football at Country Day! To celebrate our 4 year anniversary, let’s dive deep into the history of our team. SCDS Flag Football began in 2021 with a brand new team with little to no experience with football at all. The team’s record that year was 2-5. With more experienced players, the 2022 season came with great success and the team’s record that year was 6-3! Just by watching the team, you could see each player's growth in skill, and how they were all bonded together as a family. Last year (2023), the new sport with increasing popularity had the school’s best season yet. From record-breaking tackle numbers to unbelievable passing yards, the SCDS Flag Football girls had finally gotten into a groove and finished with a one-loss season. Coach English and Coach Mulzer have led the team for the last 4 years and because of their help, the team has been able to achieve greatness and develop individually as players.

With a new season approaching the team is filled with new faces and new opportunities. Our mix of strong veterans and eager newcomers is focused on refining skills, encouraging teamwork, and putting in the work to continue last season’s momentum. Whether helping out our middle school team or preparing to start our season off strong, the team is focused on the word of the year–legacy. With a strong foundation, we are ready for SCDS flag football’s future and we hope to see you cheering them on at upcoming games!
