Meet Coach Conroy

Coach Conroy has been at SCDS since June 1, 2022. He is the Head Varsity Girls' Basketball Coach, and he served as the Athletic Director for two years until he stepped down and assumed the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Operations this past summer.

Before coming to SCDS, Coach Conroy was the Athletic Director Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Hilton Head Christian for eleven years, winning four straight state championship titles at the end of his tenure.

During his past two years at Country Day, Coach Conroy has led the girls basketball team to a 40-13 overall record, a 29-3 region record, a regular season region championship title, and a region championship runner-up title this past year, as well as winning Region 3-AAA coach of the year for the 2023-2024 season. When asked what it is like to be the Girls’ Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at SCDS, Coach Conroy said, “It is a very rewarding experience.”

This year the girls' basketball team will open the season at home against Beaufort Academy on November 13. However, they will not face cross-town rivals Calvary Day School this year. Coach Conroy says that if the girls play up to their ability this season we will be very successful. He believes that whoever the team takes on in the Savannah Holiday Classic on December 20th and 21st will be their toughest matchup this season.

Coach Conroy says that if you are trying out for his team this year or any year in the future you should “Work hard and be a good team player.” We look forward to Coach Conroy’s growing legacy at SCDS and can’t to see what victory he leads girls’ basketball to this season.
