Boys Basketball

The varsity boys' basketball team is looking to start strong this season after winning the region championship last season over Johnson High School by a score of 60-52. They will need a few new people to step up and fill the hole left by the seniors. Specifically, Robert Spaulding who led the team in points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, and steals per game.

They are under new leadership from Head Coach Sean Sweeney this year. Coach Sweeney most recently coached at Middleburg High School in Florida, where his team achieved the single-season wins record. Before that, he spent six years as the Head Coach at Stratford Academy in Macon where his team played SCDS twice in the GHSA state playoffs, splitting the matchup 1-1. Coach Sweeney also spent three years as an assistant coach at Georgia Southwestern State University and one year as an assistant at Francis Marion University. He played college basketball for two years at Penn State Brandywine before transferring and playing at Charleston Southern University.

The Varsity boys will be led by seniors Andrew Nicholson and Brooks Kleinpeter with support from many underclassmen.

They started the season with matchups against Bulloch Academy on 11/26 and Ridgeland-Hardeeville on 12/2.

The JV boys are already off to a great start with a win over Hilton Head Prep 50-13, holding Hilton Head to only 2 points in the second half.

They have 8 more home games this year so be sure to support them. Go Hornets!
