Artist of the Issue: Agnes Brown

Written by: Tenny Fitzgerald

Each Issue the SCDS Buzz newspaper picks an artist to highlight. This months Artist is Agnes Brown!

Agnes is a senior in both Art portfolio with Ms. Duthu and Ceramics with Ms.Hefner. In addition to being a diverse and incredible artist Agnes is an active member of the SCDS community. She was captain of the varsity cross country team and a member of the varsity tennis team.

Beyond her many talents Agnes is loved and appreciated by the people around her. Ms. Duthu says, “Agnes has always had a very independent artistic voice, I am constantly impressed with her ability to think outside the box. She showcases artistic technical skill beyond her years and I cannot wait to see her skill and artistic style develop outside of the campus; college and beyond”. Outside of the classroom, friends describe Agnes as “funny, artistic, authentic, personable and quick witted”.

Last summer, Agnes was one of four students invited to go on an exclusive school art trip to Lacoste, France through a SCAD program. Students spent the first day touring Marcé, then drove to Lacoste where they took classes from SCAD professors and went on excursions around the area.

Anges has been interested in art her whole life. Art is important to her because it allows her to express her emotions and relieve stress.

Looking to the future, Anges wants to assume a career in the arts. While she is still undecided, she is thinking about attending Savannah College of Art and Design next fall.

We look forward to seeing what Agnes creates next!
