The Inauguration: Trump part 2

Written by: Carter Herman

Within the past month, the United States has experienced a presidential shift. After Donald J. Trump’s presidential victory last November. He is assuming his second term (non-consecutive), marking history as only the second president to accomplish such a feat since Grover Cleveland in the 20th Century. Trump’s inauguration was bound to be marked by some sort of controversy and it was. While many supporters of Trump remained triumphant and their feelings of patriotism emanating throughout, the date of good feelings was overshadowed in some respects by some non-traditional aspects. The first being the inauguration was held inside the capitol, which in my eyes proved to be fortuitous for Trump, as he had intimate control over the setting which his predecessors lacked. The people who attended Trump’s inauguration also left a lasting impression whether that was Jeff Bezos wife’s diaphanous blouse or the palpable resentment by the already limited Democratic members who came to the inauguration. Despite the controversy over Trump’s at times rambling speech or his relationship with technological billionaires, it was a win for Trump. Because, he proved that he was intent on coming through on the promises he made. Throughout his speech he made a bevy of promises and mere hours afterwards he executed on several them. For better or for worse, Trump proved refreshing in his willingness to make an impact as soon as he possibly could. Setting an important precedent for the rest of his presidency, allowing him to accomplish the goals of his party, unfettered by complaints from the opposition.
