Sabrina Carpenter, a 25-year-old singer-songwriter, was born in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and is best known for her infectious pop music. Sabrina started singing at the age of ten when she would upload videos of her singing to YouTube. She began her music career in 2015 with her debut album, Eyes Wide Open, but gained most of her popularity in 2023 while she was an opening act for The Eras Tour.
On August 23rd, 2024, she released her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet. The album features 12 tracks, including the well-known hit singles “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, with all 12 songs charting on the Hot 100. “Espresso,” “Taste,” and “Please Please Please” all reached the top 5, while the remaining tracks secured spots in the top 40. Short n’ Sweet showcases Carpenter's strong vocal performances as well as her playful and clever lyricism. The album got its name from Sabrina’s “short,” but impactful romantic relationships.
At the 2025 Grammys Awards, Short n’ Sweet received 6 nominations. Short n’ Sweet won Best Pop Vocal Album, marking a significant milestone in Sabrina Carpenter's career. In addition to the album's success, “Espresso” won the Best Pop Solo Performance award. Her Grammy wins reflected her quick growth as an artist and showed her ability to create chart-topping hits that her audience enjoys.
Following her recent Grammy wins, Carpenter released a deluxe album edition on February 14th. It includes 5 brand-new songs, along with a version of “Please Please Please” featuring country star Dolly Parton. The two collaborated on a music video for the song as well. It gave the song a new country twist, blending Dollys' southern charm and Carpenters' pop music. The music video shows the duo driving down backroads, with a mysterious passenger in the back, giving the song a playful story that compliments the song's theme.
The rest of the additional tracks cover Carpenter's emotions and experiences on the challenges of balancing her personal and professional life, enriching the album's narrative. Each song on the album offers a unique story with heartfelt lyrics, showcasing the songwriting style she is known for.
